Our Story
Founded as the “Nicholl School of Irish Dance” by Samantha Nicholl Fleming in 1993, and under the direction and ownership of Amelia Hartman since 2022, the Nicholl Irish Dancers promote traditional and modern Irish dance, music, and culture for all dancers ages 3 and up. Our dancers participate annually in local community events and have traveled to dance at Busch Gardens, Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and The Grand Ole Opry.
Our Mission
At Nicholl Irish Dancers we offer exceptional Irish Dance instruction in a supportive and fun environment. We aim to nurture our student’s physical dance skills while passing down the rich culture and history of traditional Irish Step Dancing. Although our focus is centered on recreational dancing and performances, opportunities to compete are available to all dancers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Our core dance school season runs from September through June, following the academic school year. Open registration typically begins in July. If you are interested in joining mid-season, please contact us directly to check class availability.
We welcome boys and girls ages 3 and up. No prior dance experience is necessary for our beginner classes!
We believe in upfront, transparent pricing so parents can plan ahead. For our Beginner classes, tuition is $645 for the full year (divided into convenient payments of $215 every 3 months). The estimated cost for a beginner performance costume is $180.
There are additional costs associated with the recital as well as with competition. See the Classes page for more details.
All dancers start in soft shoes to build a strong foundation of rhythm, posture, and core footwork. Dancers master the basic Reel and Light Jig steps in Beginner 1 & 2 before moving on to Advanced Beginner. Hardshoe skills are safely introduced when dancers reach the “Irish 1” level and have mastered their soft shoe basics. Move-ups are always handled carefully at the instructor’s discretion to protect growing joints and build true confidence.
Dancers should wear comfortable athletic clothing (like shorts, leggings, and a t-shirt) that allows for a full range of movement. For the first few weeks, clean sneakers or soft ballet slippers are perfectly fine! Once your dancer decides they love it, we will guide you on purchasing official Irish soft shoes (ghillies).
We offer the best of both worlds! Our primary focus is centered on recreational dancing, fostering a fun, supportive community environment, and participating in exciting local performances. However, for dancers who wish to compete, we actively participate in competitive events through open-platform Irish Dance organizations (like CRDM).
We love giving our dancers the chance to showcase their talents! All dancers have the opportunity to perform in our big Annual Recital, local St. Patrick’s Day parades, and community events. Over our 30+ year history, our dancers have also traveled to incredible national platforms, including Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Hershey Park, Busch Gardens, and the Grand Ole Opry!
Absolutely! The Nicholl Irish Dancers love bringing the high-energy tradition, rhythm, and excitement of Irish dance to the community. Our performance troupes are available for a wide variety of local events throughout the year, including:
